I bought 1KG of random parts from China. Was it worth it?

Uh oh, I’ve been shopping from China again! This time I got two lucky bags: 500 grams of random capacitors and 500 grams of random electronic parts from a seller on AliExpress. What did I get? Was it worth it? The answer won’t surprise you.

  1. the $10 mallory capacitor was the crown juwel of the collection

  2. Could I have the link for the random components parts!!!????

  3. 20 percent is fine esr over 4 isn’t
Once the cap gets power it will reform most of them might be 5-10 years old that’s why
You could do a test with a power supply and give it the required voltage and let it sit for a few mins then discharge the capacitor and retest make sure it’s completely drained or you will break the tester like I did

  4. All fakes

  5. ESR: Small electrolytics (1–10 µF low voltage) can easily have ESR > 2 Ω. High ESR isn’t automatically “bad.”

Capacitance: Most electrolytics are ±20%.. sometimes ±10% for better ones. A 15% deviation is normal.. not defective.
